Towtower - HoosierDaddy - 02-16-2018

Have any Gurus checked this out? It seems to me that the high tongue weight could be a problem....

The concept is great BUT I would think most Newells have a hitch to close to the ground for that system to work. They require 18" minimum from the ground to the RV hitch. https://www.towtower.com/compatibility-form/

They also list that the calculated tongue weight not exceed the towing capacity but I would think that since tongue weight is typically only about 10% of the towing capacity on most non-weight distributing hitches I would also be concerned about adding the weight of most front wheel drive cars to the rear of the coach. Great concept but I fear it might be an issue with most front wheel drive cars and it is designed only to work with front wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicles with neutral.

I have seen an old Blue Bird Wanderlodge FC towing a Citroen 2CV that way although his system was mechanical in that he used a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the 2CV up onto brackets he had attached to the Blue Bird hitch. However, the 2CV has a curb weight of only 1,300 pounds.

The Gadget Guru shows the Tow Tower in action behind a Foretravel. Apparently it is currently designed for SUV's with greater ground clearance and they are 'working' on a design for the tow bar that doesn't reduce the towed vehicle's ground clearance the 2-1/2" + that the current design does.
