Air dump destroys bottom leveling rod mount. -

If I dump too much air or the coach sits too long without the compressor on, the leveling rods push out the bottom of the rubber mounts on the axle or bend. It is as if there is not enough travel on the King of the road leveling valve??? Is this normal. Is there a fix?
Thx!
Gregg

Sounds to me like the bottom end rubber isn't correct.

In the link the closed round rubber is the bottom and is a fixed point. The pass through is the top so the rod doesn't need to be cut it just slides through and clamp at proper height.
I prefer the following for connection rods

The top link is exactly what I have and yes, that’s how it is configured but the coach squats so much and the leveling valve only goes up so high, so it ends up either bending the rod or pushing the rod down through the rubber mount.

Might have to cut the rod so it doesn't top out like that.

I thought about that, but if I do that, then I will not be able to maintain the correct right height. As it is right now in order to get 12 inches, the top of the rod is just even with the top of the rubber mount.
There must be weird with my set up if no one else is having this problem

It shouldn't drop that much when the bags are completely deflated. Is the connection rock solid? It should have some free play in there. Kind of makes me wonder if the valve was moved at some point. Possibly replaced because of a broken bolt so they just went over the top of it?

I’m not sure, ill investigate more, I just wanted to ask if this was a known problem with a known solution before I try to reinvent the wheel.

Gregg,
Mine is close, and it doesn't have much left in adjustment to raise the coach any higher. But it does not hit the roof of the wheel well when the coach is all the way down.
But I don't know if the coach is sitting on the stops in the air bags, or the shocks limit the travel downward. I hope the shocks aren't trying to support that much weight but who knows.
You might think about fitting some hard rubber stops in the suspension to stop if from bottoming out on the ride height rod.

Stops sounds like a possible way to go, I’m just wondering why it is necessary? What is different on my coach?

Have the air bags been replaced?
