Next issue sorting out coach
Hard starting lack of fuel. once started after lots of cranking, will run at low idle for about a minute then shut down. once I can get speed up and put in high idle, continues to run.
Read various posts regarding tank vent, check valve and filter but not sure if my issues is one of these. Any strong opinions?
Thanks
JD

As cold as it has been in the south, what's the temps where you're at? could very well be cold related.

Around freezing overnight. Added antigel and drove for 200 miles so I think it was well mixed.

Sounds like a filter. Do you see any fuel in the sight glass above the filter when its running?

Yes about 1/4 of the way when stopped. Haven't looked when running. Also it appears that engine preheat only works with battery merge engaged, correct?

I know on mine the Aqua-Hot runs from the house batteries. The engine preheat circulation pump however, runs from the coach batteries. I think mine has something to do with when It was vandalized and they stole all the wiring out from under it. I may not have got it rewired perfectly.

The davco bowl was empty after sitting all night. went to start and its 40 f so it took about 10 seconds before it started. ran for about 20 seconds, no fuel ever came up in the bowl and it quit as it has done. tank had no vaccuum. fittings tight on fuel pump and the fuel filter.
If it is the check valve anybody have a part number?

I've never had to merge the batteries when preheating the engine. Yours is a couple years newer so Newell might have changed that. I still think its your fuel filter and or it could be the Davco needs to be dissasembled and cleaned. Also make sure the O-rings on the Davco are good and no cracks in the clear plastic part of it.

On 712 the pumps for the Aquahot all get there power from the electronic board for the aquahot the preheat does not need engine merge to work the preheat is the bottom pump if you still have the pumps with the clear cover just because the pump is turning does not mean it is working they are magnetic drive, the plastic on my impeller drive all cracked and seized I peeled it off coated it with JB weld made an arbor for it ground it down to the right size, did not work for long waste of time

John, I replaced a check valve on a 96 Newell and this is what I used from Strataflow, and it was the -12 fitting:

Make sure you validate what your fuel line size is. I would take a close look at the fuel line, and make sure it looks in good condition, on the 96 we also replaced the fuel line. That was a big project replacing the fuel line, was not as easy as pulling the old one out and new one in, it was a struggle.
