Hi, i’m an experienced coach owner. Looking at a well maintained 2005 Newell. 225,000 miles. Maintained at newell every year for last 10 years.
Love the Detroit. Any comments?

Well, welcome.
The mileage will not be an issue for the engine or the frame. The frames are built by Newell in house and are the best in the industry. I do not have any particular knowledge of the 2005 model year. But my 1995 with 154K I would take anywhere with my DD series 60. Also, the 24/7 customer support from Newell is really one of a kind.

Welcome to the forum. Personally I find the 05's to be some of the most attractive coaches Newell has ever built if it had the updated front/rear caps. Valid slides, steerable tag, pre DEF, spyder controls. Probably the only knock would be I'm guessing it's got a 14L with EGR vs. a pre EGR Series 60, but properly maintained those are still great engines.
There is also an entire section on here about things to consider when buying a Newell. My two cents is having some level of prior coach experience a plus, but the best skills are either being well versed in all things electrical, mechanical, etc. OR having a very trusted local mechanic that is willing to dig in. The folks on here are amazing at providing technical assistance and Newell is great for that as well, but without the proper knowledge or desire to learn it would be not much fun in my view.
I also agree with Karl on the mileage. I'm a little jaded in that I bought on '03 with about 250k and 9k hours on the generator and I actually prefer something with miles as I know it was actually used and these things sitting are the death of them in many instances.

I’ve had 2 05s. One had 225k miles when I sold it. Drove like a new coach. All about keeping the maintenance up. I wouldn’t be scared of it.

FYI that coach is 47 feet long, so not California friendly. Good looking coach

Thanks all for your responses! The coach does have the updated end caps. Owner just told me the slider seals have just been replaced, tires and batteries are three years old. All work done at Newell. Will be flying in to look at it next week. He will allow ne to get a full inspection as well.
