thought i would show how i torque my wheels.
i have two ways. i have a 475 ft lb torque stick to use with my 1" air impact gun.
or i have a foot long 3/4" torque wrench that goes to 600 ft lbs
here i am using the torque wrench with a 33mm socket and 13" long 1" impact extension and my floor jack
using the floor jack to stabilize the whole thing made it super easy.

I cut a piece of plywood to support the extension - easy to use & doesn't take up much room in the bay.

I think my right hand is 10 ft lbs short of the minimum. A hang nail stops me from going further. I'm the 6 Dollar Man.

here is a picture of the torque stick. they are about 50 bucks. this one is a 33mm 475 ft lb and fits on a 1" air impact gun.
i checked the torque with my torque wrench and it is pretty accurate.

Tom, the torque stick looks like a socket and extension built as one. How does it indicate when you achieve the desired torque?

it is all in one. it wont torque any more than 475 ft lbs. no indicator. someone can probably explain how it works but i cant. it just works

i was sent this answer to how the torque stick works by a good friend who mocks me for being an electrical engineer who only knows 1's and 0's. ha
"The torque stick is designed using the modulus of the steel, the diameter, and the length of the skinny part so that at 475 the stalk of the stick twist flexes enough to absorb the energy of the gun."
yea, what he said. i resemble that remark. all i know is that it is magic and it works. btw my son is an ee and my son inlaw an ee one with a masters and the other with phd and post doc. i am a lowly bsee with mba who retired from semiconductors.

Can your 1” impact gun run off the coach air system?
I’ve got a 3/4” Milwaukee electric impact gun, I’d like to give that a try.
