Chester, there is a cutoff valve that turns off water using autofill. My coach did the same thing. I took the valve apart and cleared a tiny weep hole that was filled with lime deposit. After that all was well.
I dont have a picture, but the valve is located just above the headhunter pump. Inside the valve, there is a rubber gasket and that gasket has a tiny hole that if stopped up will do what you describe.
