I use the auto fill and the Headhunter Mach 5 all the time and never use park water pressure.  When the RedHat valve had a problem I bought a new valve, took it apart and used the new parts in the old valve body.  Normally I switch the auto fill on whenever the tank gets low or when doing loads of laundry.  When we leave for the day I turn the auto fill off.  I put a delay relay on the auto fill valve wiring to allow the sloshing in the tank to settle down before actuating again.  That reduces wear on the float switch.
