Pride in Ownership - Records

Just a quick update. Fabick pulled off valve covers, etc. and found a couple of broken springs on the Jake Brake. Replaced those, installed a Jake rebuild/refresh kit, adjusted overhead and we're cooking with gas again. On my way home from TN there is a 5% grade for about 4 miles that previously I had to use my brakes on and this time it just barely held without any braking aside from the Jake. On a 6% grade I'd need to come off the top and little slower and then I think it might hold. Difference was night and day and now we KNOW what was in the bottom of the pan.

On that note he ran it for quite a while and drained oil and we had no additional spring material that made it to the magnets. Going back to Fabick next fall and they will pull the oil pan and make sure we got everything out in case something makes its way down to the pan again.

So thankful for the insight of Richard and others who advised me to open in up and make sure we knew what we were dealing with. It was not an inexpensive undertaking, but now we know what we know and have a Jake that works really well to boot. All's well that ends well!
