Electric Aquahot not working
#1

So, recently I have been having a problem with my electric aquahot working.  The diesel version works just fine.  The light lights up when I use the switch but it just doesn't heat up.  I checked the fuses in the back of the coach and the fuses on the inside of the aquahot bay but none of them seemed to be blown.  We did have the breaker go off a few times the past week or two at the post we were plugged in to, so maybe that caused something to malfunction?

Is there another fuse somewhere that I would need to check?

Is it the relays maybe?  I see a few of them on the side of the aquahot near the fuses.

The diesel works great and the heat still works overall.

Coach is a 1998.

Corey is it the 120vac part you are talking about or the 12vdc that runs the pumps and heat exchangers? In the meantime go to the back there is a electrical panel with breakers in it, check and see if one of them is tripped. Also make sure the switch above the microwave is in the heat position not AC.

The number one thing to check is the 240 volt high limit thermostat. It is located behind the removable panel above the burner. It has two wires on top and three wires on the bottom. There is a red button that may be popped out. Carefully push it back in and, if it holds, that will restore operation of the electric elements.

If it does not hold, replace. I have one.

Using a VOM meter set to AC volts. There should be 120 vac on each of the five wires if inside switch is ON and 120 vac power is available to the heater. A clamp on amp meter on each of the top wires will confirm operation is it shows current flowing.

If you need more assistance, call me between 8 and 8 central time. 7 one 3. 8 one 8 3234

On mine the wire was badly corroded at the connectors in the junction box on the side of the aqua hot. I had to cut the crimp connectors off and I put new crimp connectors on all of them.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.  I will look for the red switch.

I did check the breakers already and the fuses both at the AH bay and the rear of the coach.

Here is a picture of the wire connections at the AH.  They all look ok and have a a solid connection.

It was indeed the little red switch.  Would never have found that.  Thank you.

Corey, glad you found the problem. Rudy is the man when it comes to Aqua hots!

For your info, the electrical feed comes into the top of the aqua hot and there is a small metal panel that you can open that has the connections I was talking about. You may just double check those connections to make sure they are not corroded.

Red arrow is pointing to the side where the power comes into the aqua hot.

Before you open that panel, have some of these on hand. I use them for all high current connections such as Aquahot and Air Condtioning. https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywor...hvexpln=67

Of course, you know to ensure power is off when going into that panel. Even though I open breakers, I ALWAYS confirm with a voltmeter that I am not about to touch a live circuit.
