My fantastic fan has a moisture sensor that closes the lid and shuts the fan off if it senses rain. It will reopen after a while and run until it senses rain again. There is a small rocker switch on the unit that activates the auto

Use caution buying from this site.  They often are selling old product that may or may not fit what you have.

They have a very short return window of 30 days, which comes into play when you’re putting several orders from different vendors into one project.  You won’t have all the parts to verify fitment before the return window closes. 

Further website pictures and descriptions are often specifically wrong. The site says a part fits a particular model, when it actually only fits and older model due to manufacturer changes.

Worse still is even when you point of the description is completely wrong, they won’t allow you to return an item.  You’re stuck with it.

They usually have good prices posted if you can get the right part. Unfortunately it appears it’s a total guess as to what you’ll actually get.

Oddly both nights my fan opened and started running on its own were nights it was raining, seems like it was doing the opposite of what you would expect.  Maybe the rain sensor has gone bad.  Either way it’s now inoperable.

I'm almost certain the problem is that the hatch's servo motor is sticking. When it does, the hatch stays open which keeps the fan on. Same can happen in the closed position, with the hatch not opening and, hence, the fan never coming on.

Happens all the time with one of ours and it's a VERY simple "fix".

While, yes, you can replace that servo motor, I simply give the knob a gentle twist to help it get moving.

Last trip, I took the cover off, gave it a good blow out, and sprayed some dry silicone in there and hoping that'll help.

I am not sure a stuck lid is my issue,  I was easily able to move the lid with the manual knob but that did not cause the fan to  become responsive to the wall switch.  I do understand that if I switched the fan on and it would not close when shutting off that the lid could be stuck open but my fan was off and during the night opened and started without any prompting from me, and then was unresponsive to the wall switch and still is.  I think it’s more of an electrical issue than a mechanical one.  I have not had time to troubleshoot since returning home but will for sure investigate a possible servo issue.

Is it a Fantastic Vent?  While I cannot argue with any of the solutions presented and although I do not think it s the problem, there is a lid plunger switch on Fantastic Vents that does lose contact eventually which simply requires moving it around to clean off anything which may prevent a good connection.  While I do not think your problem is caused by this, it is a consideration.  In the end, I think it is a bad board on the vent and if Steve is correct, in your case, I would call Lippert, who acquired Fantastic Vent.  They seem to be fairly good in customer service.

I had a few more minutes to re-read your OP. Yesterday, my mind was spinning a bit more than usual...so looking again, if it was MY coach I'd blame Alexa's stupid "Hunches" which caused us months of middle of the night duress as things would come on and off!  LOL...not so LOL.

But, my sticky servo thoughts may not be as relevant to your problem/description given the fact your fan come ON randomly. I was zoned in on it not responding to the Spyder buttons; hence my thought of nudging the lid motor.

I DO know, and something I have to do routinely, is Spyder CAN get out of sync...aka off becomes on, or on becomes unresponsive. I've solved this one of two ways: 1. Pressing and Holding the button in question for 15 seconds. This causes a forced re-sync. or 2. Rebooting the entire Spyder system by pulling fuses 610, 611, 612, and 624 for 30 seconds, then reinsert (order doesn't matter).

No Alexa in our coach so I can safely rule out Alexa imposing its will on us in the night!

When this started happening my first inclination was that the system had lost control of the fan, not that the fan had an issue, I cannot really articulate the reason but that was my hunch.  This our first Newell, we come from a Prevost/Marathon previously, I am not yet very familiar with the Newell systems.  I did remember reading or seeing a video regarding holding the button for a bit which I did but maybe not for a full 15 seconds.    Is the Spyder system the same across coaches regardless if it has Silverleaf or Intrepid? ours has the later.  Is there any inherent risk in rebooting the system I should be aware of, I know I always have a moment of nerves when I reboot the server at my business and hope that everything starts back up and runs correctly.  I do have a service appointment scheduled at Newell for a few items we discovered on our first outing but I like being self reliant and knowing the systems so I would  figure this one out and maybe learn something.

Alexa is great...until she's not!  LOL. I was the first coach of our era and helped to "break ground" for others to follow. It's not without its problems, but oh so nice when she behaves!

OK...Spyder. Yes, the backbone and functioning of Spyder hasn't changed much at all. Unlike your computer's servers, Spyder isn't really running an OS or any code to speak of, but more a series of electronic relays webbed together...hence the catchy name. Have no fear...reboot at will!

You haven't mentioned what the OTHER switch sources are doing with that fan; ie. other panels, the iPad, etc. Are they toggling Red/Blue in sync with the Bathroom's?

IF the iPad and other switches are working, yet accurately showing same status, then that'll be another diagnostic finding.

If they ALL are in sync, and doing their best to make the fan cooperate, then a quick voltage check AT THE FAN would tell you if, in fact, Spyder is sending the proper voltage to the fan. This would, in turn, tell ya if the fan's control board has gone rogue.
